Real Estate Agent Stories – The Tough Negotiator

Being a real estate agent takes many skills.  Negotiating is one of them. Founder/Managing Partner Lamar Hunt Jr. has heard all kinds of stories. One story dealt with an investor selling a residential property and having contact with the agent.  The investor could see on his computer screen that the agent had been there three times in a short time period over the last several days.  That told him the agent had a real prospect.  Soon, the agent called to negotiate. The crafty investor got the agent talking. He asked if they had kids.  The agent said “Yes and the family had already picked out their rooms.” Before discussing price, the investor asked when would they love to move in?  “Yesterday,” the agent replied.  “What if I have some other potential buyers?” the investor responded.  “We’ll outbid them,” she said. Without talking price, the investor knew he would get the whole enchilada.  When the agent made her first offer, the investor told her it wouldn’t work.  It less time than it takes to type this sentence, the agent offered to pay thousands over list, pay the closing costs and barring any major issues, waive any minor repairs.  A deal was signed and closed within forty days.  The happy family moved in and the investor pocketed some extra profit. And that’s really the interesting part of dealing with real estate agents:  the more their buyer pays, the higher their commission check.  For more real estate tips on rental real estate property or other subjects, see our blog at  https://lorettoproperties.com/.  You can also call us at 913-236-2902 if you have a property to sell.
