A First Class Agent
Founder/Managing Partner Lamar Hunt Jr. has heard all kinds of stories about real estate agents. One story dealt with a real estate agent who goes above and beyond the call of duty. It appears this real estate agent has a one year agreement to list the house. Normally, that is a long time for a listing agreement but certainly not unheard of. This real estate agent then carefully looks over the front of the house and with the owner’s approval, makes small corrections. One day, she brought out some paint and with a friend, carefully painted the front door and door jamb. This small change made a huge difference. Inside, there were some cabinet doors that were loose so she screwed them back into place. The master bedroom had a nasty door knob and for $20, she put on a nice shiny new one. For about $100 in materials and some sweat equity, she took the small uglies off the property and made it more sellable. This house was selling in the price range of $300,000 so she could make a commission of $9,000 and recoup her expenses. Of course, if it did not sell, it wasn’t for lack of trying. And you can bet either way, the seller spread her name around to other clients and thus increased her business. That’s an agent who really gets it.
